Yeaperson was the next name I considered when yeaman-dot-anything were all taken. Now I wish I had named my site yeapeople. But what about "political correctness?" My years as a volunteer at Austin Rape Crisis Center and work with women colleagues who were frank, honest, and excellent workers convinced me long ago that the patriarchal, the dominance culture, permeate everything. All persons must have the opportunity to develop to their full capacity. That requires the use of gender neutral words to gore sexism. Avoid all patriarchal, dominance phrases and terms. This is true equally of race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, nationalism — all of which divide us when we need to unite for our common humanity. Underlying these words and phrases is patriarchy and its feelings of superiority. Perhaps a better word than political correctness is respect — respect, accept, and appreciate all people whatever their gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, nationalism. WE ARE PEOPLE!
