Maintaining these submarine memorials/museums is expensive and most of those below are supported by individuals who contribute money and work. Check ones in or near your home on their web sites to contribute to their maintenance. Also many offer programs such as sleepovers for scout and other groups. These boats are a tribute to the submariners of the U. S. Navy and deserve our support.
Entire submarine restored or in the process of restoration
Since these ships require maintenance, check web sites or telephone before visiting to be certain you can tour the ship. Phone numbers were those in 2004. Google submarine's name with USS before the name, as USS Drum, to find web sites. Some ships are floating while others are placed in sand or the ground.

The book Final Patrol by Don Keith tells some wartime experiences of WW II submarines above; their "final patrol" is getting to where they are located as memorials/museums.

Parche nuclear attack sub sail, Bremerton, WA; during her 30 years in commission, earned an unprecedented nine Presidential Unit Citations, 10 Navy Unit Citations and 13 Naval Expeditionary Medal awards, making it the most highly decorated naval vessel in U.S. history.

*These submarines were built after World War II; Albacore is an experimental high underwater speed Diesel submarine whose hull shape was the model for fast nuclear subs, Blueback last of the Diesel attack submarines has the Albacore hull, Growler a Diesel Regulus missile firing submarine, Marlin a target submarine, and Nautilus the first nuclear submarine.
